Protecting Colorado's Water

Congressman Salazar knows and understands that water is the lifeblood of rural Colorado. John has fully committed himself to ensuring that state and federal water policy protects vulnerable areas from laws that threaten agriculture and tourism-based economies. John is also working to block efforts by out of district interests to take water away from our farmers, ranchers and communities.

As an agriculture water user, John knows water is viewed as property and he will fight to protect that property right. He has supported legislation and efforts to protect water users in Colorado. He formed the 3rd Congressional District Water Committee to serve as a conduit of information on water issues in Colorado. The Water Committee provides information from individual water issues to large scale issues like the Colorado River Compact and the Endangered Species Act.

Congressman Salazar is a leader in Colorado water issues, and will continue to fight for the water that sustains the communities he represents, and the way of life for which his family has worked for six generations.
