A Strong Voice for Rural Colorado

Congressman Salazar has been a strong voice in Congress for rural Colorado. As a sixth generation farmer and a small businessman from the San Luis Valley, he understands the needs of rural communities. Salazar is fighting to protect our water, promoting economic development, winning funds to improve transportation, fighting against the meth epidemic, and battling against policies that will harm agriculture and our natural resources.

When there is a crisis in rural Colorado, Congressman Salazar is ready to help immediately.  He's fought to keep rural airports across Colorado's 3rd District open for business and used his seat on the powerful Appropriations Committee to get them vital funding for runways and security that would have otherwise gone to major metropolitan areas like Chicago and New York City.  As a member of the Energy and Water Subcommittee, Salazar has secured funding for rural water projects like protecting the Fountain Creek Watershed in Pueblo, rehabilitating Jackson Gulch outside Mancos and the Platauro Reservoir in the San Luis Valley.
